白石温麺

宮城県の南に位置する白石市の名産品。
白石市には、温麺（うーめん）屋さんが沢山ありました。
メニューは温かいもの、冷たいもの、山菜うーめん、地鶏うーめん、天ぷらうーめんなどその他、多種。
やまぶき亭というところで、仙台味噌うーめんを食べました。
店内は（おそらく観光客だと思いますが）お客さんでいっぱいで、待っている人も大勢。どこのお店もそんな感じでした。
温麺の名の由来は、約４００年前、胃病をわずらう父親のために、何かよい食事療法はないかと息子が苦心して作り、それを食べた父が快方に向かい、この話を知った当時の殿様が親孝行の息子を誉め、温かい思いやりの意味を込めて名づけたそうです。
温麺は、長さが９cm程で短く、手延べでも油を使わず小麦粉と塩だけで作るので、消化によいということです。原材料はうどんと同じ。うどんの細くて短いばんかな。
そうめんとどこが違うのだろうと、
お店の人に聞いてみたところ、そうめんより短く、少し太めということでした。
昔は温麺は手延べだったのですが、現在は機械製麺が多いようです。
機械製麺の温麺だと、油を使用していないそうめんと同じということか。手延べそうめんは綿実油やごま油を使うので。
少し太いので、茹で時間は３～５分くらい。買ってきた温麺は、まだ冷やしそうめんという時季でもなかったので、温かくして、手軽な納豆うーめんにして食べました。短い分食べやすく、温かくしても少し太めだからかのびにくい気がします。味はそうめんと同じでした。
そうめんと同じような感じとはいえ、４００年も前から白石市で、温麺という名で作られ、現在も製造され受け継がれているのはすごいことだと思います。
